The Chinese Elm Ulmus parvifolia cultivar 'Glory' is one of the early American selections, best known for its winter hardiness.

Description

This tree is common in the United States. It can reach heights over 40 feet. The tree can survive in temperatures from -20°F to 35°F.[1]

Pests and diseases

The species and its cultivars are highly resistant, but not immune, to Dutch elm disease, and unaffected by the Elm Leaf Beetle Xanthogaleruca luteola.[2]

Cultivation

In trials at Holt, Missouri, by the Arborvillage nursery, it was found to be cold-hardy to -28.8°C. The tree also featured in the elm trials conducted by Northern Arizona University at Holbrook. 'Glory' is not known to have been introduced to Europe or Australasia.
